Helen M. Raab, 74, of State Highway 30, Amsterdam, New York passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, New York.
She was born August 14, 1933 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late Alexander and Leona Ott Kryszczak. She lived in the Amsterdam area most of her life and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School - Class of 1951.
She worked for Fairchild/Electro-Metrics for several years. She then worked as a draftsman and designer for the General Electric Company and Lockheed-Martin Company at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, New York before retiring in 1993.
She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam, New York.
Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a bench mom for the Little Giants Cheerleaders and a coach for Amsterdam girl's softball. She was also a talented artist and designer, an avid bowler, a New York Mets' fan and enjoyed her many casino trips.
She is survived by her loving daughters and family Wendy (Wayne) Stanavich, Amsterdam, New York, Linda (Joseph) Greco, Hagaman, New York, Cheryl (Paul) Winney, Broadalbin, New York, Penny (Domingo) Vazquez, Fonda, New York, Nancy (Thomas) Ehlen, Florida, Jeanne Raab, Amsterdam, New York; her grandchildren, Melissa and Joseph Greco, Angela and Adam Winney, Michael Carter and Brittny Stanavich; her brother, Alexander Kryszczak, Amsterdam, New York; her sisters, Mary Jane Quackenbush, Hudson Falls, New York and Jean Ippolito, Amsterdam, New York; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Jean Raab and grandchildren Jason Stanavich and Trish Marie Raab.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.
Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
